Who Are WE?

ARM Dev Energy is a joint venture between Mespil Solar Energy and Alpha Real Capital. The parties are developing green energy assets in the UK that Alpha Real Capital can ultimately build and hold long term.

Mespil Solar Energy have been developing utility-scale solar parks in Great Britain, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland since 2013. Their management team have a proven track-record of delivering solar parks and battery storage facilities.

Site Selection

The need to foster and encourage economic development is given much weight in both local and national planning policy. The Proposed Development can only be sited where a practical and viable connection to the Grid is possible and therefore there are strict locational requirements. The proposed connection point is located at a nearby pylon south west of the site. However, in addition the site was chosen after an extensive planning assessment with all constraints factored into the selection process.

It should also be considered that the host farmer is facing a compulsory purchase of a large section of his field to accommodate the forthcoming Five Estuaries cable route. Following the laying of this cable, although still farmable, crop selection will be reduced and yield potentially impacted. The proposed solar farm provides the farmer with a stable and steady income from land potentially compromised by this cable route.  In addition:

  • The site is within a viable distance from the Grid connection point
  • Planning Constraints – The site is not located on a sensitive area that could impact on constraints such as flood risk, heritage, landscape or ecology
  • Existing site levels can be utilised to minimise visual impact
  • Land and Availability – Suitable sites need to have a willing landowner who wants to use the land for the project.
